Since winning the 2018 Brussels International Guitar Competition, Beattie’s performance
career has taken him to stages across North America and Europe. His recent collaborations
include projects with the RSNO, Canadian Opera Company, Coulthard Trio, and Quartet
Malamatina, alongside appearances at The Bath Festival, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity
(Canada), Kitaranova Festival (Finland), Lammermuir Festival, Perth Concert Hall, Het
Concertgebouw Amsterdam (opening for Ludovico Einaudi), and the Amsterdam Blue Note
(with Nai Barghouti). Beattie has appeared on radio and television broadcasts for Dutch
National TV, BBC Radio Scotland, CBC Radio (Ottawa), and ClassicFM Toronto. He has won
prizes at the international guitar competitions in Antwerp, Brussels, Calgary, Hamilton,
Leicester, and Uppsala.
A passionate educator, Tim is an Associate Teacher of Guitar and Chamber Music at the
University of St Andrews Music Centre. He has recently given workshops and masterclasses at
the Alberta Strings Association, Calgary Guitar Society, Mount Royal University, Royal
Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Alberta, University of Lethbridge, and the University of
Regina Conservatory.
Tim is the first (and so far only) guitarist invited to join the prestigious Rebanks Family
Fellowship at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He is a graduate of the Amsterdam
Conservatory (BMus’19), and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MMus’21, AD’22) where he
was recipient of numerous awards including the RCS Performance Prize in Guitar (‘21, ‘22) and
the David Knox Memorial Award for Academic Excellence (2022). Tim’s studies and artistic
projects have been generously supported by the Amsterdam University of the Arts ‘AHK Talent
Grant’, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity ‘Leo Brouwer Fund’, Canada Council for the Arts,
CIM Trust, Guitar Society of Toronto, RCS Trust, Rebanks Family Foundation, Royal Overseas
League ‘Scottish Study Award’, Sylva Gelber Foundation Award, Tillett Trust, and The
Worshipful Company of Musicians.
