The 2022 Cantilena Festival took place from Sunday 3 July to Friday 8 July 2022.
After two years away, it was such a joy to perform to sold-out venues on the Isle of Islay. Our sincere thanks to all who attended and supported.
As always, our scholars stole the show! The students fully committed to the Festival and were rewarded by noticing how their performance improved over the course of the Festival. Finlay (guitar), Maya, Xinyue, Trasy (violins), Thaddeus (viola) and Rebekah (cello) fell in love with the island and the atmosphere of the Festival. We thank them for their contribution and enthusiasm.
As ever, the Festival relies on hard work from many people and we give special thanks to Rona Fisher and her team of the Friends of Cantilena, to Martine Nouet for her continued work on our behalf, and in particular for delivering her very popular Whisky Tasting, and to the amazing Ishbel Capper who kept us fed and watered throughout the week. Special thanks also go to Jason McAuley and Andrew Foden for their hard work.
