Ella Cookson
Composer
Ella Cookson is a composer, pianist, and visual artist from Lancashire, currently in her third year of study at the RCS. Inspired by the connections between music and other art forms, her creative practice is shaped by observation and reflection, often exploring themes of nature and human nature. Ella's style draws on her background in folk, jazz and contemporary classical music, alongside a particular interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
Recent projects include commissions for the National Library of Scotland’s Digital Archive, Glasgow 850 Composers’ Lab, and Leeds Song Festival, with performances by artists including Sholpan Miller, Mark O’Keeffe, and the Nordic Viola Ensemble. Ella is delighted to now be writing for the Cantilena Festival.
